Accept Conference Invitation
Congratulations on being accepted to present at TECHCON 2024! The next step is to formally accept your invitation and agree to the conference presentation terms. We require this process to ensure a smoother and more organized conference experience for everyone involved.
As organizers, we understand that life can sometimes present unexpected challenges that may interfere with your ability to attend and present at the conference. We recognize that unforeseen circumstances such as illness, family emergencies, or other personal obligations can arise, and we are here to support you through such times.
However, we also want to emphasize the importance of communication. If, for any reason, you find yourself unable to fulfill your commitment to present at the conference, we kindly ask that you communicate with us as soon as possible. Failure to do so not only disrupts the conference program but also affects other participants and attendees who are expecting your contribution.
In the event of unexplained absence or failure to communicate, we reserve the right to contact your professor or supervisor to inform them of the situation. Additionally, such actions may impact your eligibility to participate in future SRC events.

We use the following content to help industry professionals from SRC member companies get to know you better. Make a great impression!

How does SRC use LinkedIn for SRC Research Scholars?
SRC uses a special LinkedIn Affiliate page for the SRC Research Scholars Program. Undergrad, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers participating on SRC research add their SRC Research Scholars experience to their LinkedIn profile. This allows Scholars a way to professionally showcase their talent and experience. It also simplifies how recruiters, engineers, and even other Scholars can find SRC Research Scholars, using either the LinkedIn Search* or LinkedIn Recruiter*. (Learn more about what defines an SRC Research Scholar.)
In the Experience section of your LinkedIn profile, click the plus icon to add experience. (If you don’t already have an experience section, you will need to add one.)
Add SRC Research Scholar Experience
- Enter "Research Scholar" as your Title.
- Select SRC Research Scholars Program as your Company. (Do NOT choose Semiconductor Research Corporation.)
- You will also need to add a Start Date for when you began working on SRC research.
Submit Conference Paper
As a responsible SRC Research Scholar, you are expected to submit your paper on time. While no extensions will be granted, we encourage you to contact us if you anticipate problems submitting your paper on time. Failure to submit your paper on time may necessitate the replacement of your participation with another student.
TECHCON Papers must be submitted through OpenWater.
Paper Guidelines
Papers should be submitted in PDF format.
- Length:
- Minimum: Four (4) pages
- Maximum: No maximum
- Format:
- Minimum 10-point font.

- The title on the original paper submission will be the title used in the event agenda app and on the web. Title changes received after July 10 will not be reflected in printed materials.

Notes for MAC users
Be aware that PowerPoint Mac-to-PC conversions can lead to unexpected results, especially with fonts, certain formats of embedded graphics, and special characters (ASCII characters 128 to 255). To avoid questions of PowerPoint compatibility, please embed all used fonts, convert them to vectors, or use only universal fonts. Alternatively, bring a PDF version on USB to present at the conference.

Graduate Students are expected to submit a recording of their TECHCON presentation, submitted through OpenWater.
Record yourself presenting your presentation. This will allow us to have a backup in case travel or weather delays prevent you from presenting on time.
All files must be in MP4 Format. Files cannot be any larger than 4GB. Please use the following naming convention: XXXX_First Name_Last Name.mp4, where XXXX is your Session ID (example: 12.1_Joe_Green.mp4).
Requirements
- Bit rate
- Do not exceed 1Mbps bit
- To check the bit rate, right click on the file name, click on properties, go to the Details tab, and look for Total Bitrate. If the bit rate is too high, please lower the quality to “Internet Quality” to create the MP4.
- Resolution
- 1080p recommended
- 720p minimum

Recommendations
- Create a script for your presentation.

- Record your presentation with the PowerPoint “Laser Pointer” turned on. Use this virtual laser pointer to help focus the listener.
Equipment Tips
- Use a good headset with a microphone to the side of your mouth, not directly in front of it. An external microphone will capture better audio than your computer’s built-in microphone.
- You may use the audio from the original recording or record a voiceover.
- Do a test recording for a couple of minutes and review the sound and picture quality, MP4 format, and bit rate before recording the entire presentation. Make adjustments if needed
- To capture screen footage, use a program such as Camtasia or Quicktime.
- You are welcome to edit your video using iMovie, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc. Add text or edit your video in ways to enhance the presentation.
Recording Environment
- Make sure the lighting looks good. When in doubt, stand in front of a window and have that be your light source.
- The room should be free of other noise sources.
- Avoid areas that have an echo. Your recording room should be fairly small with sound dampening from carpet, curtains, and furniture.
- There should be no interruptions (e.g., kids or pets coming in).
- Plain background to eliminate viewer distractions.
- There should be no company logos in your video.
